New Zealand celebrates Mother's Day just like other countries do. It is a holiday that focuses on all mothers, forever the most important women in all our lives. They took care of us and they will love us forever. It is never easy for a mother when a child is on the road far away. We sometimes forget to keep in touch with them in the flood of our own plans and activities. That’s why there is this special day. The day to remember to them and let them know we appreciate them.
Even though this holiday is recognized internationally, different nations celebrate it on different days. New Zealand's ones are celebrated according to the American pattern on the second Sunday of May, which dates back to 12th of May 2019.
Whether you live with the entire family under one roof or you are away thousands of miles away from home, on this day pay at least some attention to your mums. Whether it's a gift, a flower, a postcard or a phone call, you know she'll be pleased.
Unlike other festivals, which we sometimes feel like is maybe commercial a consumerist, Mother's Day has its own historical tradition. Keep it going, put money aside and make her happy originally. Your mums surely deserve it!
